On Wednesday, July 18th, 2012, deal united hosted their first ever Facebook Credits Summit in The Charles Hotel in Munich. Back in June, Facebook announced that they would be discontinuing the distribution of Facebook Credits at the end of the year. deal united saw this as an opportunity to promote the use of these great credits before their inevitable demise. deal united has seen firsthand the success of Facebook Credits, when used as an incentive marketing tool. Whether it is rewarding your fans with credits for subscribing to your newsletter or through a prize drawing or lottery, these credits have proven to be incredibly useful.
The summit began just after lunchtime in the center of Munich. Speakers included Gary Boeing, CEO of apploft GmbH, Marco Höglinger, CEO of innovation.punkts GmbH, and our very own Markus Wiedemann, Vice President of European Sales for deal united, and Kai Joachim Boyd, the CEO of deal united. Topics included the countdown to the end of Facebook Credits, practical demonstrations of the uses of Facebook Credits, using virtual game apps as a viral marketing tool, and tips for the development of apps for Facebook fan pages. Attendees came from companies in fields varying from advertising to consulting to entertainment and more. They were all interested in getting their hands of some of these Facebook Credits before time runs out. At the end of the evening, attendees were invited to enjoy dinner, drinks, and networking in one of Munich’s most exclusive hotels.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was able to join us at the summit and we hope to see you next time!
Get out your bike shorts! The ninth annual 24-hour bike race will take place from June 4-5 at the Olympiapark in Munich. 2,500 participants in 600 teams of one, two, four and eight will pedal their mountain bikes from noon to noon to see which team can complete the most laps.
When something this cool happens, deal united just has to be there. That’s why PAY.BY.SHOPPING, in conjunction with Plus, is sponsoring a four-person team for the race. While all those wheels are turning, we’ll be cheering on the cyclists and keeping spirits high among the fans with giveaways.
Whether you’re coming to support a team or just see what all the fuss is about, don’t forget to say ”hi.” Look for us in our PAY.BY.SHOPPING T-shirts among the crowd or head toward the PAY.BY.SHOPPING banners along the route. Be sure to catch the on-stage interview with PAY.BY.SHOPPING bike team member Kai Boyd. See you there!
The one-of-a-kind event brings together active players from all areas of digital media, including online marketing, advertising and eCommerce, and provides an unconventional atmosphere for networking and personal interaction.
deal united is sponsoring one of the highlights of the evening, a SpeedNETworking round that gives attendees face time with other like-minded professionals in a chance to meet and form contacts efficiently. It’s the speed dating of the digital media world!
If the sold-out success of OSM 2.0 is any indication, OSM 3.0 should be a hit. We hope to see you there next Wednesday at 19:00!
Since 1810, Oktoberfest has been a Munich must-do, and since deal united just happens to be based in Munich, we couldn’t miss it this year!
So, taking a little much-needed time away from our computers, we all put on our Bavarian best — women in dirndls (traditional dresses featuring a fitted bodice over a blouse and skirt) and men in lederhosen (you know, the leather pants with suspenders).
When we got to Oktoberfest, we had a long, cozy lunch in the Bräurosl with the typical specialties of the Wiesn (the German word meaning “meadow” that Bavarians endearingly use to refer to Oktoberfest). We ate Hendl (chicken), Schweinsbraten (roast pork), Schweinshaxe (ham rock), Knödel (potato or bread dumplings) and, of course, beer.
After lunch, we drank a bit more beer and enjoyed the atmosphere of comraderie and cheer at the Oktoberfest. And to show you how much fun we had, we took a few pictures:
